The History Of The Old School House

After fire destroyed Arrow Rock's original schoolhouse in 1928, a new building was erected on the old foundation. Classes were held in the facility until 1968. The main floor housed the high school and two elementary classrooms. The lunch room was located in the basement.

In the 1960s, Christian College, now known as Columbia College, bought the building and for a short time used it to house the Jane Froman Music Center. Today, thanks to the generosity of former Arrow Rock residents Buena Stolberg and Corinne Jackson, the Old School House (also known as the Stolberg-Jackson Community Center) is owned and managed by the Historic Arrow Rock Council.
